In November 2026, Antigua and Barbuda will welcome leaders from across the 56 Commonwealth nations for the Commonwealth Heads of Government Meeting (CHOGM). As an official side event during CHOGM Week, the Commonwealth Sport Summit will bring together senior leaders and partners from government, sport, civil society and industry to strengthen cooperation and advance practical action to enhance the contribution of sport and physical activity to sustainable development, economic prosperity and Commonwealth unity.
Sport is one of the most visible expressions of Commonwealth identity. Across continents, cultures and generations, it provides a shared language that connects the Commonwealth’s 56 member countries and 2.7 billion people, including 1.6 billion young people. By showcasing sport’s strengths, highlighting innovative approaches and exploring opportunities for greater impact, the Summit will provide a platform for dialogue, collaboration and new partnerships.
The Summit will explore how sport can support:
- Healthier and more resilient communities: Using sport and physical activity to support health, wellbeing, inclusion, youth development and community resilience.
- Stronger economies: Recognising the economic contribution of sport, including major events, tourism, enterprise, jobs, skills, innovation and investment.
- A more united Commonwealth: Celebrating the role of sport in building connection, cultural exchange, cooperation, peace and shared identity across the Commonwealth.
