Our Athletes, Their Voices
Real athletes. Real journeys. Real stories.
As the first Para training camp of 2026 wraps up in Stellenbosch, South Africa and with the Glasgow 2026 Commonwealth Games less than four months away, we're excited to launch a content series dedicated to the Athletes and Coaches at the heart of the Commonwealth Sport development programme – GAPS.
The GAPS Series brings together individuals who have been interviewed over the last two years while attending the camps. The videos have given the participants the space to tell their own story; where they've come from, what drives them, and where they're going in the future. For some, that destination is Glasgow 2026.
Commonwealth Sport CEO, Katie Sadleir said: "It's been an honour to have a window into even a small part of these Athletes' and Coaches' stories. Each participant that comes through the GAPS programme brings their own unique story of challenges, experiences and triumphs. Trusting Commonwealth Sport to recount their journeys is a privilege - every Athlete and Coach has a story worth hearing."
Every Athlete and Coach has a story worth hearing.
- 700+ Athletes have participated in GAPS since 2017
- 100+ have competed at a Commonwealth Games or Commonwealth Youth Games
- 33 Athletes from 20 different nations competed at the Paris 2024 Paralympics
