Introducing Our New Sports Committee Members
We’re delighted to welcome two new members, Joanna Sutherland and Catherine Gosselin-Després to the Commonwealth Sport, Sports Committee, a strategic advisory group that plays a key role in shaping the future of sport across the Commonwealth.
The Sports Committee supports the Executive Board on key matters relating to sport and our partnerships with International Federations, providing expert guidance that helps deliver on our vision, mission and ten-year strategic plan: Commonwealth United.
This voluntary committee is central to ensuring Commonwealth Sport continues to evolve and thrive, from the Commonwealth Games and Commonwealth Youth Games to the broader Commonwealth Sport Movement. Its work focuses on developing policies, strengthening relationships across the global sporting landscape, and identifying opportunities for innovation and inclusion, particularly through Para Sport.
Our members bring knowledge and experience across four key competencies:
- Global Sport: Insight into the international sporting environment and its emerging opportunities.
- International Federations: Understanding of the structures, policies and operations that shape multi-sport events.
- Innovation: Awareness of new formats, technologies and trends that help attract new audiences.
- Para Sport: Expertise in Para Sport and high-performance pathways across the Commonwealth.
Alongside the rest of the committee, our new members will play a vital role in helping Commonwealth Sport build on its legacy, champion inclusion and drive forward a more united sporting future for the Games and beyond
