
Sports Committee: Role Vacancy Advert
Commonwealth Sport is recruiting for members with relevant experience for its Sports Committee. In order to meet the Federation’s commitment to equality and diversity, Commonwealth Sport is seeking applications from female applicants to provide this representation on its Sports Committee.
This is a hugely important and strategic voluntary role to support on strategic matters and policy development related to sport and partnerships with International Federations that impact the Commonwealth Games, the Commonwealth Youth Games and the broader Commonwealth Sport Movement. The Sports Committee acts as an advisory body to the Executive Board and supports Commonwealth Sport achieve its vision, mission and overarching strategy, Commonwealth United, the ten year strategic plan Commonwealth United - CGF Strategic Plan.
We are looking for candidates with relevant skills and experience, related to the following four competencies:
- Global sport: Knowledge and experience of the global sporting landscape. Involves understanding the key topics and strategic opportunities within this context; and how they might impact Commonwealth Sport, the multi-sport event environment and wider stakeholders.
- International Federations: Knowledge and experience of International Federations (IFs) as a stakeholder group. Understanding of IF strategic matters, policy development and multi-sport event operations, to support the strategic long-term vision of Commonwealth Sport, including the development of the sport programme.
- Innovation: Understanding of emerging innovations within the sport landscape to support the development of new formats, new event products and technological advances within the industry to attract new markets and appeal to younger audiences. Ideally experience of working within this field.
- Para Sport: Knowledge of Para Sport at elite level and high-performance pathways.
Time Commitment.
The Committee will meet at least three times a year, with no more than one of these meetings being a 2 day in-person meeting hosted within a Commonwealth country. The remaining meetings to be online meetings averaging two hours each. Additional online adhoc meetings may be called from time to time on specific topics. Costs associated with travel and attendance at the in person meeting to be covered by Commonwealth Sport. The term of office for the Sports Committee is four years.
