St. Kitts and Nevis joined the Commonwealth in 1983 a full ten years before their National Olympic Committee was recognised.

This two-island country lies in the northern part of the Leeward Islands group of the Lesser Antilles in the Eastern Caribbean. The two islands are separated by a channel some 3km in width.

Having made their debut in the Commonwealth Games in 1978, St Kitts and Nevis returned to competition in the Games in 1990 and have enjoyed uninterrupted participation ever since. Their first medal came in Manchester in 2002 when Kim Collins won the blue riband men's 100 metres final on the athletics track.

The St Kitts and Nevis National Olympic Committee is responsible for organising the country's participation at the Commonwealth Games and Commonwealth Youth Games.
