The British Virgin Islands is a UK overseas territory and lies roughly mid-way between Puerto Rico and the northern most of the Leeward Islands group in the Caribbean. It is an archipelago of over 40 islands, 16 of which are inhabited. To the east of the islands lies Anguilla.

Having made their debut in the 1990 Games in Auckland the British Virgin Islands have attended every edition of the Games since. They fielded athletes in Athletics, Squash and Swimming at Glasgow 2014.

The British Virgin Islands Olympic Association was formed in 1980 and formally recognised two years later and is responsible for organising the country's participation in the Commonwealth Games.
