Introduction

At the Executive Board Meeting in May, an independent Elections Panel was created to manage the governance and integrity of the CGF Executive Board Election process that will take place in person at the AGM being held in Singapore on 14 and 15 November 2023.

The process for electing CGF representatives to the Executive Board and other sub Committees is defined within the CGF’s Constitution that can be read in more detail here along with the Election Policy document available for downloading below.

The Process

Nominations by Commonwealth Games Associations for officials to electoral positions closed on August 15 2023. Up to that point, regional representatives were able to be nominated to be a candidate for the positions available:

  • The President
  • Three Vice Presidents
  • Six Regional Vice Presidents
  • Six Sport Committee Members

After the nominations were received there was a two-week review by the independent Elections Panel, to ensure the nominees were eligible to stand. Candidates for all positions were then announced on August 30.

Approved candidates have until 14 September 2023 to submit their Candidate Brochure for approval by the Elections Panel.

At the CGF General Assembly in Singapore on 14 and 15 November, Regional Meetings will take place on the day one to elect their respective representatives to the Board and to the Sport Committee, followed by the General Assembly voting to elect the President and the three Vice-Presidents.
